James Thomas (Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic)Text Activator is a piece of software that assists course authors prepare a whole text-based course offline, and then import created resources and language learning activities into Moodle 1.9.x. The course author starts by inputting the texts on which the course is based. The software facilitates the creation of activities drawn from the whole text, from sentences and from words and phrases. It includes its own small concordancer that allows the author to identify lexical and grammatical features that occur across a course. Aside from Moodle, the full texts are also formatted with metadata using XML code for importing into the Sketch Engine's Corpus Builder. Text Activator has been programmed in FileMaker Pro.
